Mr. Jud on NBC's the TODAY Show - March 2, 2026

The Spring Glen Library Media Center is a place where curiosity and problem-solving is encouraged. Located at the heart of the school, it is the focal point for pleasure reading, information seeking, knowledge building, and thinking. Research shows school libraries support student learning and higher academic achievement when staffed by qualified library teachers. At Spring Glen, the LMC is an important part of a student’s education.

Who Is Mr. Jud?
I am Brian Jud, Library Media Specialist at Spring Glen School.

I am so grateful to be at Spring Glen. I spent 7 years at Bethel Middle School teaching Social Studies, and 1 year at Waddell Elementary School in Manchester as a Library Media Specialist before beginning at Spring Glen in December 2024.

My wife and I have a daughter and a son, and I can't forget about our giant lab mix, Cooper! When I'm not at school, I love reading (duh!), playing golf and tennis, and going for walks.

What Does Mr. Jud Do?

  1. Model and impart a love of reading and literature on as many students as I can.
  2. Teach classes.
  3. Manage the Library.
  4. Manage student and teacher technology. Think of me as the school's "first line of defense" for tech issues.

I love working with your kids, and I aim to make Media classes engaging with meaningful lessons that will be a foundation for lifelong learning.

To contact Mr. Jud with questions about log-ins, Google Classroom, online databases, passwords, or other issues, email me at bjud@hamden.org or use ParentSquare.

The Spring Glen Library Media Center houses a collection of more than 12,000 fiction and nonfiction books, periodicals, and multimedia resources (ebooks and interactive ebooks) for students and staff, and is administered by a certified library media specialist. All classes have weekly library/media class. There is also Open Book Exchange time for 30 minutes every morning. The library/media curriculum includes literature appreciation, digital citizenship and research skills, with technology embedded into lessons.

We encourage every child to learn to love reading of all types – picture books, fiction, nonfiction, how to, biographies, graphic novels, eBooks, poetry, etc.

Thank you for your support and Happy Reading!!
